Electrical Engineering

The Matrix Group can provide full-service electrical engineering services to any design project.   Electrical is a key component to building design as it is the “life source” to the building.  Much as blood delivers oxygen to the body, the power distribution system provides the necessary electricity to power all building systems such as lighting, receptacle outlets, HVAC equipment, plumbing equipment, low-voltage systems, etc.

Electrical Systems must be designed for compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), including any State or local amendments to the code.   Based on the project, Electrical Engineering may consist of one or more of the following:

  • Power Distribution Systems
    • Secondary Service – Under 600 Volt
      (480, 208, 240)
    • Primary Services – Medium Voltage
      (4160V, 13.2 kV, 24.6 kV, etc.)
      where allowed by local utility
  • Standby Power Generator
    • Life Safety Loads – Emergency System  (NEC Article 700)
    • Legally Required Loads (NEC Article 701)
    • Optional Standby Loads (NEC Article 702)
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Lightning Protection Systems
  • Surge Protective Devices (SPD)
  • Fire Alarm Systems – where required by Building Code (NFPA, IBC, Local Ordinance)
